The owner of this eclectic loft in downtown Durham is a collector of found objects. For this bathroom remodel, he requested we use a rainwater grate, which had been turned into a mirror, above the sink. This led to the concept for the bathroom, “Rain”.
Glass tiles in the palest watery green line the shower. A rich, dark brown tile was selected for the floor and tub surround to connect with the rusty mirror frame. A pendant light made from recycled “rain glass” and steel illuminates the 100% recycled glass countertop. A linen shower curtain softens the space and blends with the ivory painted trim and vanity. The resulting space is truly rain-like…cleansing and calming.
